Here we will show you how to save you a lot of time by importing featured images and product images to your WordPress site or WooCommerce store.

Shopify note: Image importing works the same way on Shopify and WooCommerce.

For example, product imagery on a lifestyle store or blog are updated a lot. Maybe you shoot the same products every season to keep things fresh, maybe you’ve re-designed your website and you need to use a different style or crop of image to your existing content.

Setary makes it much easier to update images without having to visit multiple pages in the WordPress admin. You can either do this directly in the spreadsheet editor, or by preparing a CSV file and uploading it to Setary (which can then either create new products/posts complete with their featured images; or add images to existing content on your site).

The following instructions explain how to import images via CSV.

1. Setup Image location

The first step is to add your images to a location that they can be imported from. Upload them to any hosted platform that is publicly accessible. The easiest place is usually WordPress Media Library – add the images, and copy the URL of each one.

2. Input into spreadsheet

You will now need to add your copied image URLs into a CSV file, which you can create using any spreadsheet software such as Excel. Add the URLs to a column named “images” or similar.

3. Import into Setary

You’re now ready to import the CSV containing the image URLs into Setary. Once imported, you can click the image icon next to the image URL to check everything is as expected.

Now would be a good time to check all the image meta data as it’s an important part of image SEO. Remember, if you are adding the images to existing products/posts then you need to make sure the SKU or database ID is set.

More information on product importing can be found here.

4. Save Setary

Once you’re happy with everything, you can save the spreadsheet and the image uploads will commence. This may take sometime if you’re doing a large import, so make sure you’ve got a coffee ready!
